Miruro: Running; named in an August 2026 subpoena

The best Miruro alternative in 2026

Miruro is still running on several mirror domains. In August 2026 four of them were named in a DMCA subpoena the MPA sent to Cloudflare on behalf of ACE.

The short answer

Miruro still works. It is spread over five mirror domains, its own status page marks some video servers as broken, and four of its domains were named in an August 2026 subpoena. If you want a backup that stays at one address, Rotten Brains is free, needs no account, and has anime with sub and dub where both exist.

What's going on with Miruro?

Miruro's front-end code lives in a public GitHub repository started in November 2022, under a custom non-commercial licence. FMHY, a popular community index of free sites, listed miruro.com on 7 August 2024 and gave it a star on 20 September 2024. The Wotaku anime index describes it as a scraper: it pulls video from other hosts rather than storing its own.

Its main address has moved back and forth. FMHY switched the link to miruro.tv on 12 October 2024 and back to miruro.com on 30 March 2025. On 24 April 2026 it listed five domains plus a status page, and on 11 May 2026 miruro.online was swapped for miruro.ru. Since 9 July 2026 FMHY notes that Miruro offers soft subtitles as well as hard ones.

On 30 August 2026 TorrentFreak reported a DMCA subpoena the MPA sent to Cloudflare on behalf of ACE. It covered 49 domains, among them miruro.to, miruro.tv, miruro.ru and miruro.bz, and sought the operators' identities. TorrentFreak cited Similarweb figures of 45 million monthly visits for the .to domain and 37 million for .tv. CBR covered the same subpoena on 1 September, naming Miruro and Aniworld as the anime sites in it. No takedown had been reported by 23 September 2026.

On that date Miruro's own status page showed all five mirrors up, but its description still read "Currently broken servers kiwi - pewe". A GitHub issue from August 2026 also reports that numerous shows are labelled as English dub with no dub available.

Subtitles come from more than one source, so most titles have several versions per language. If the first one is out of sync with the video, the next one usually is not.

Many get lined up with the dialogue automatically when you pick them, and there is a delay slider for the rest.

Questions

Is Miruro shutting down?

It has not announced anything like that. Four of its domains were named in an MPA subpoena to Cloudflare in August 2026, which asks for information about who runs them, but no takedown had been reported by 23 September 2026.

Which Miruro domains are real?

FMHY lists miruro.com, miruro.tv, miruro.to, miruro.bz and miruro.ru. It dropped miruro.online in May 2026. Miruro also runs a status page that tracks all five mirrors.

Why do some Miruro servers not play?

Miruro pulls video from other hosts, and its status page lists the kiwi and pewe servers as broken. On Rotten Brains every title is checked against several sources, and the player moves to another one by itself when the first fails.
