What happened to SolarMovie?

SolarMovie was a link site for films and TV that moved from .com to .eu, .is and .ph over the years. TorrentFreak called it one of the most visible and visited pirate streaming portals, and in November 2013 it became one of the first streaming sites the UK High Court ordered BT, Sky, Virgin Media, EE, TalkTalk and O2 to block.

In February 2016 studios sought an Australian block on its domains. The operator disputed their claims and said the site followed the DMCA.

On 21 July 2016 it went offline without a word, hours after KickassTorrents was shut down. TorrentFreak noted that solarmovie.ph sat one IP address away from the torrent site's servers. It never announced a return.

The name lived on elsewhere. solarmovie.to was named in an MPA/ACE subpoena in December 2022 and in the MPA's 2023 filing, which listed Solarmovies among the brands tied to the FMovies network. In 2024 the MPA asked for 14 SolarMovie domains to be blocked, and Australian orders in November 2025 named SolarMovies again. solarmovie.to did not resolve on 23 September 2026.

Continue Watching at the top of the home page.

With a free account, every movie and episode remembers the second you stopped, on every device. Continue Watching sits at the top of the home page, next to what is new in the shows you follow.

You never need the account to watch. It only adds the memory.

The player finds a working source by itself

On SolarMovie a dead server meant going back, picking the next one and hoping. Here every title is checked against several sources before you press play, and the player starts on the one that answers first.

If a source stalls, the player tries the next one and picks up where you were. You can still pick one yourself from the settings menu, with a note on which ones carry extra audio languages or subtitles.

Subtitles come from more than one source, so most titles have several versions per language. If the first one is out of sync with the video, the next one usually is not.

Many get lined up with the dialogue automatically when you pick them, and there is a delay slider for the rest.
