The best HydraHD alternative in 2026
HydraHD is still running, now at hydrahd.ws with hydrahd.com as its backup. It has changed its main domain at least eight times since 2024.

The short answer
HydraHD still works, but its main address has moved again and again, from hydrahd.com through .cc, .me, .ac, .sh and .io and now to .ws, and look-alike domains show up in search. As a second site to keep, Rotten Brains is free, needs no account to watch and lives at rotten-brains.com.
What's going on with HydraHD?
HydraHD was already a starred pick at hydrahd.com when the current history of FMHY, a popular community index of free sites, begins on 7 August 2024. FMHY's grading gives it 17 out of 18, for a custom player that switches source on its own, auto-next and continue-watching that syncs with an optional account.
Its address has rarely stayed put. FMHY moved the link to hydrahd.cc on 12 September 2024, to hydrahd.me on 11 December 2024, to hydrahd.ac on 19 March 2025, to hydrahd.sh on 24 April 2025, to hydrahd.io on 18 August 2025 and back to hydrahd.com on 5 October 2025. On 13 August 2026 hydrahd.ws became the main domain, with hydrahd.com as backup. The site runs its own status page, which marks hydrahd.ru as disabled and tells people to use only the domains it lists.
It is also one of the busiest sites of its kind. In April 2025 TorrentFreak, citing traffic data, reported 87.1 million visits to hydrahd.me in January 2025, and said the new hydrahd.ac was returning an intermittent Error 451 (Unavailable for Legal Reasons). In October 2025 TorrentFreak reported that the MPA's notorious-markets submission to the US Trade Representative named HydraHD as an example of what it calls 'hydra sites', one-stop sites that come back on new domains when blocked.
FMHY has also changed its mind about the site a few times, removing the star on 8 May 2025 and 31 December 2025 and restoring it on 27 June 2026. None of that means HydraHD is gone. It does explain why people keep a second site on hand.

A look around Rotten Brains
Real screenshots from the site, in the order that matters most to someone coming from HydraHD.
01
The player finds a working source by itself
Every title is checked against several sources before you press play, and the player starts on the one that answers first.
If a source stalls, the player tries the next one and picks up where you were. You can still pick one yourself from the settings menu, with a note on which ones carry extra audio languages or subtitles.
02
Every season and episode, with Up Next
Shows open on a watch page with every season beside the player. The episode you are on is marked, and Up Next sits right above the list, so finishing an episode is one tap from the next.
Anime is here too, with sub and dub where both exist.

03
Pick up where you left off
With a free account, every movie and episode remembers the second you stopped, on every device. Continue Watching sits at the top of the home page, next to what is new in the shows you follow.
You never need the account to watch. It only adds the memory.
04
Subtitles in dozens of languages
Subtitles come from more than one source, so most titles have several versions per language. If the first one is out of sync with the video, the next one usually is not.
Many get lined up with the dialogue automatically when you pick them, and there is a delay slider for the rest.
05
Watch parties with friends anywhere
Start a party from any movie or episode and send the link. Everyone who opens it watches the same second of the same video, with a chat alongside, and the player keeps them in sync.
Any free account can start one. Friends can join and watch without an account at all.
06
Built for your phone too
The site works the same on a phone as on a laptop: the player pins to the top, the episode list scrolls underneath, and the controls are sized for thumbs.
Add it to your home screen and it opens full screen, like an app, with no store and no install.

Questions
What is the current HydraHD domain?
FMHY switched its HydraHD listing to hydrahd.ws on 13 August 2026 and keeps hydrahd.com as the backup. The site’s own status page marks hydrahd.ru as disabled.
Why did hydrahd.ac show Error 451?
Error 451 means "Unavailable for Legal Reasons". TorrentFreak reported the intermittent error on hydrahd.ac in April 2025, in an article about MPA and ACE subpoenas aimed at streaming sites. The site moved to hydrahd.sh later that month.
Does Rotten Brains keep my place like HydraHD does?
Yes, once you make a free account: every movie and episode remembers where you stopped, on any device, and Continue Watching shows what you were in the middle of. Watching without an account works too.
